This online ticket marketplace is an increasingly popular Internet destination where fans can buy and sell tickets to over 20,000 live events nationwide. The company currently uses several different advertising platforms successfully, but was interested in adding television to build awareness of their brand, drive ticket sales and support their other advertising.
Spot Runner presented an overarching creative theme for the company's 30-second spot which, through Spot Runner's cutting-edge technology and processes, could be quickly customized to highlight events happening in a particular market and run on air in a matter of days. This marketplace was sold on the concept.
“We had the ability to buy media by zip code and change the creative for each region through Spot Runner's Web-based user interface,” says Jen, the Senior Marketing Manager. Spot Runner designed an adaptable, animated, graphicsbased ad that allowed the company to easily swap out messaging and images of stadiums and venues that were relevant to each region. “We worked well with Spot Runner on both the creative and media buying components. We contributed creative assets that Spot Runner formulated into a flexible template.”
They used Spot Runner initially to make regional buys targeting fans of the New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox, and Chicago Cubs with spots customized for each audience. Spot Runner designed unique creative to successfully target die-hard fans in two of the biggest television markets in the country.
But when the NCAA basketball playoff rolled around, this Internet company needed an agency that could operate as effectively at the national level as they could locally. “March Madness is a huge national event that requires a national advertising platform. We found that Spot Runner could maintain the cost-effectiveness we needed at a national as well as regional level.” Compared to a traditional ad agency, “Spot Runner was much more nimble and able to turn around schedules and creative quickly.”
On top of the regional and national campaigns Spot Runner implemented for this client, they also spearheaded a major sponsorship with “The Best Damn Sports Show Period” on Fox Sports Network, incorporating the company's name and logos throughout the program. “Spot Runner has helped take our branding to the next level, and we've seen a fantastic return on our spend.”
